Team India will have to pay 80% of the match fees paid for the slow over rate

Team India suffered a double blow in the first match of the three-match ODI series played in Hamilton. First, the Indian team faced defeat despite scoring a big score in this match and after that the match was fined for slow over rate. The ICC issued a statement saying that the Indian team will have to pay 80 per cent of the match fee as a penalty for the slow over rate. However, Virat Kohli has admitted this mistake.
The match's referee Chris Broad found that the Indian team did not complete their overs within the stipulated limit and was bowled with four overs of extra time. According to article 2.22 of the ICC's Code of Conduct, the team is fined 20% of the matches per match for all overs that are thrown after the specified limit. India bowled four overs after the set limit in the ODI match played in Hamilton and the team was then fined 80 per cent of the match fee.
Virat Kohli admitted his mistake and accepted the penalty imposed. After Virat's acceptance, no hearing will be held in this matter. This is the third consecutive time that Team India has been fined for slow over rate. Earlier, the Indian team was fined 40 and then 20 per cent for slow over-rate in the fourth and fifth T20s against New Zealand. Let us tell you that in this match, Team India scored 347 runs. With four wickets remaining, the team achieved the target that the Kiwi team had got for the win and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
