IPL 2020: Shikhar Dhawan's statement on playing under his junior captaincy, Shreyas is still learning
Indian cricket team opener Shikhar Dhawan plays for the Delhi Capitals team, the franchise team of the Indian Premier League. Dhawan returned to the home team after playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad for a long time. He has relied on Delhi's young captain Shreyas Iyer. He said that Iyer would lead the team well in the upcoming season of IPL.
Senior player of Delhi Capitals Dhawan said, as a team, we are ready to do well in the tournament. We are full of confidence and are building a good rapport. We are all making a comeback in cricket and are making energy and mutual understanding in the team, which is required. I think we have a fairly balanced team given the UAE situation. Delhi last stepped into the playoffs after a long time and the credit goes to the solidarity of the entire team and the young captain Shreyas Iyer.
Dhawan feels that the arrival of some experienced players in the team will help Iyer captain. The left-handed batsman said, Iyer captained the team in a very good way last season. Their experience will help Iyer with the arrival of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane. He will share his experience with Iyer. It will also be good for the team. I think Iyer has an open mind to learn and can learn from both juniors and seniors. He will captain the team in the right direction.
On Sunday, 6 September, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has released the full schedule of the tournament. The Delhi team will play its first match against Kings XI Punjab on September 20 in Dubai. This match will be played from seven in the evening.
