Irfan Pathan retired from international cricket at the age of 35



Indian cricket team all-rounder Irfan Pathan has announced his retirement from international cricket. Irfan Pathan last appeared on 2 October 2012 while playing for India in a blue jersey. He was running out of Team India for the last seven years. Now, he decided to say goodbye to international cricket at the age of 35. His 16-year international career came to an end with this decision. 

Irfan Pathan officially announced his retirement on Star Sports Channel. He said that from a place in Baroda I reached this stage, for this I consider myself lucky. He said that I shared the dressing room with cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, it was my luck. He thanked his cricket fans and said that whatever he got was due to his fans. They were the only one who never left me under any circumstances. Thank you heartily. 

India won the only T20 World Cup title in 2007 under the captaincy of Dhoni. India defeated Pakistan in the final to capture the title. In this final match, Irfan Pathan became the Player of the Match due to his deadly bowling. He took 3 crucial wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs in the final match. Irfan Pathan said that he took three wickets, but the biggest wicket was that of Shahid Afridi. After his dismissal, all the players came over me. I said all the way, I can't breathe. Winning the World Cup was the happiest moment of my life. 

Irfan Pathan played 29 Tests, 120 ODIs and 24 T20s for India. He took 100 wickets in 29 Tests and his best performance in an innings was 7 wickets for 59 runs while his best performance in a Test was 12 wickets for 126 runs. Speaking of ODIs, he scored 173 runs in 120 ODIs and his best performance was 5 wickets for 27 runs. At the same time, he took a total of 28 wickets in 24 T20 Internationals and his best performance was 3 wickets for 16 runs.

Talking about his batting in international career, he scored 1105 runs in 29 Tests, including a century. His best innings in the Test was 102 runs. At the same time, he scored 1544 runs in 120 ODIs. His best innings in ODIs was 83 runs while 24 T20s were 172 runs. His best score in T20I was 33 not out.
