2019 was the year of great Indian bowling: VVS laxman

Veteran Indian fast bowler Irfan Pathan said that he felt that the country's rise as a 'fast bowling powerhouse' was the headlines of the year. Umesh Yadav (23), Ishant Sharma (25) and Mohammed Shami (33) took 81 wickets in Tests this year at an average of less than 20. Earlier this happened 41 years ago when three fast bowlers of a team took more than 20 wickets at an average of less than 20 in a calendar year. Then in 1978, England's Ian Botham, Chris Old and Bob Willis achieved this feat.

Pathan said, "This year we saw that India's fast bowlers bowled well for the country. It has been one of the best fast bowling line-ups we have seen. We saw our bowling intentions and bowled fast swing. Whether the ball was new or old, it did not matter. I have seen the progress of Indian cricket, especially in the matter of fast bowling. So for me it was an important year".

Former Stylish batsman VVS Laxman's inclusion in the Test series win over Australia in his home country is included in the 'Favorite Moment' of 2019. India won 2–1 in the four-match series starting in December 2018 and ending in January 2019.

Laxman said, 'It was a great year for Indian cricket but as a Test cricketer my dream was always to beat Australia in Australia but I could not achieve it in my career. I am very happy that the Indian team, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, defeated Australia for the first time on their own soil, which was the favorite moment of Indian cricket in 2019.
