Jaspreet Bumrah in the race of Arjuna Award, Shikhar Dhawan is also being considered

Indian cricket team's fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may be named for the BCCI Arjuna Award. Last year, Bumrah fell behind Ravindra Jadeja as Jaddu is senior to Bumrah. Names of male and female players are to be sent by the board for sports awards by the end of this month. In the men's section, Bumrah's name is at the top as he has done well for the team in every format of cricket.

If more names are sent by BCCI to the male category, then Shikhar Dhawan's name may be among them. He missed it in the year 2018. Talking to PTI, a board source said that last year, three names were sent in the men's category, which included Jaspreet Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami. Bumrah had completed only two years in international cricket due to which he missed out because the award is given only if the player has played at least three years at the highest level as per the rules.

This time Shami's name is less likely to be sent because he is facing a case of domestic violence and he will not be eligible for it.
At the same time, Dhawan's name can be sent because he is a senior player. Many players of Team India such as Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja have received this award.

Although Dhawan had stayed away from cricket due to injury, the source says that he is a senior player and it cannot be ignored.
In such a situation, the board can send the names of both Jasprit Bumrah and Shikhar Dhawan. The former board official said that in the year 2018, the names of Dhawan and Smriti Mandhana were sent, but only Smriti received the award. At the same time, the names of Dipti Sharma and Shikha Pandey are expected to be sent to the women's section.
