Sangakkara endorsed Ganguly for the post of ICC chairman

Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara has endorsed Sourav Ganguly for the post of International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, saying that the chairman of the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) has a 'sharp cricket mind' and Experience as an administrator makes him a 'quite suitable' contender for this role. 

Sangakkara admitted that he is a great supporter of Ganguly. He said that the former Indian captain has an international mindset which is necessary to remain free from bias while holding important positions. 

Sangakkara, the current president of the Marilbon Cricket Club (MCC), told India Today, "I think Sourav Ganguly Can bring change. I am a big fan of Dada (Ganguly), not just because of his status as a cricketer but I think he has a sharp cricket mind. ''They said, "He heartily thinks about the best interest of cricket and when you are in the ICC, it should not change just because you are the BCCI president or the England and Wales Cricket Board or Sri Lanka Cricket or any other board." 

Sangakkara said, "Your mindset should be international and there should be no discrimination where you come from, like I am Indian, Sri Lankan, Australian or England. He should understand that I am a cricketer and I am doing what is best for all cricketing nations, ”he said. 

He said, "I have seen his work even before he became the BCCI President, before the administration and coaching, how he built relationships with players from all over the world. Hong Kong's Imran Khwaja has been named interim chairman until the election. Sangakkara is not the only former international captain to have supported Ganguly. Former South African captain and Cricket South African cricket director Graeme Smith has also endorsed Ganguly for the post, but Ganguly recently said that he was in no hurry for the ICC post.
